Pirates maintain unbeaten league start with victory against TS Galaxy

Defending champions Orlando Pirates maintained their unbeaten start in the Betway Premiership after beating TS Galaxy 3-0 at the Orlando Amstel Arena on Tuesday.

Boitumelo Radiopane opened the scoring for the Buccaneers in the 18th minute, finishing off with a tap-in after being on the end of a good team move that involved several passes.

Sedwyn George had an opportunity to level the score for the visitors, but ultimately his shot was blocked after he twisted and turned inside the 18-yard-area.

Tshepang Moremi made an immediate impact when coming off the bench early in the second half, doubling the home side’s lead after finishing off a square pass from Bulelani Sigomoshe.

The game was then sealed with 13 minutes remaining when Simphiwe Masilela capped off yet another well-constructed passing move as the Galaxy defence wilted under pressure.

Pirates’ sixth win in seven league matches sees them sit second in the PSL standings, one point behind Mamelodi Sundowns who have played a game more.

Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou will be pleased with the manner in which his team bounced back against the Rockets after losing the MTN8 final against Sundowns on Saturday in Durban.
