Today’s weather: Cold mornings, warmer afternoons across South Africa

South Africa is set for a mostly settled start to the week, with fine conditions expected across much of the country on Monday.

The South African Weather Service forecast shows cool to warm conditions in most areas, with no impact-based warnings, fire danger warnings or advisories in place.

The morning will be particularly cold across parts of the interior, with temperatures in some areas dropping to around freezing.

However, the mercury will rise steadily through the day, bringing warmer conditions by the afternoon.

The northern and central parts of the country will generally be sunny and dry. Upington is expected to be among the warmest areas, while parts of the North West will also enjoy a warm afternoon.

Along the coast, conditions will be more mixed. Cape Town will be partly cloudy, with some drizzle possible in the evening.

The Eastern Cape will have some cloud cover, while KwaZulu-Natal can expect partly cloudy skies early before conditions improve in Durban.

Despite the winter chill in the morning, most areas should enjoy a comfortable afternoon.

The sun will also be strong in places, particularly in Cape Town and Durban, where the UV level is expected to be very high. Sun protection is therefore recommended for those spending time outdoors.
