NPA to probe Mr M in alleged sexual grooming case
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) says it will investigate the alleged role of Mr M in the sexual grooming case against former Deputy National Police Commissioner for Crime Detection, Shadrack Sibiya.
The magistrate, during Sibiya’s bail ruling on Tuesday, questioned allegations that Mr M possessed and forwarded explicit images of his 16-year-old daughter to Sibiya.
Sibiya was denied bail and the case was postponed to 24 November.
Speaking outside court, NPA spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago says the magistrate had identified several issues that require further investigation.
“As you might have heard on more than two or three occasions, the magistrate was clear to say that there are issues that need to be investigated further and that I think that will be one of the things that are investigated.
And also the other issues pertaining to the conversation between Mr Serge [Cabonge] and Mr M.
Therefore, there are a lot of things that still need to be investigated, and that will be inclusive of it,” adds Kganyago.
VIDEO | Court denies Shadrack Sibiya’s bail bid “Charge Mr M with human trafficking, not Sibiya” Earlier this month, Sibiya’s attorney told the court that Mr M should have been charged with human trafficking and not Sibiya.
Sibiya’s attorney, Amanda Nel, told the court that her client was never at any point involved in human trafficking.
