Free State High Court orders seizure of drug vehicle
The Free State High Court has ordered the forfeiture of a Toyota Quantum vehicle used to transport drugs recovered in Welkom last year.
HAWKS provincial spokesperson Zweli Mohobeleli says this follows meticulous asset investigation work done by the Asset Forfeiture Investigation and National Prosecuting Authority’s Asset Forfeiture Unit.
The vehicle, valued at about R300 000, was recovered on January 14 last year in Welkom when members of the SAPS Anti-Gang Unit stopped and searched it.
Several khat plants were seized.
A 33-year-old male suspect was arrested.
However, the case against him was later struck off the court roll.
A separate asset investigation was referred to the Hawks.
