Taxi boss Joe “Ferrari” Sibanyoni and co-accused back in court

SABC News ·

Taxi boss Joe “Ferrari” Sibanyoni and three others are expected to appear in the Delmas Magistrate’s Court in Mpumalanga on Tuesday on charges of extortion and money laundering.

The accused were granted bail of R70 000 each in the same court in May.

The case was postponed for the accused to secure legal representation.

Sibanyoni, Daniel Masilela, Philemon Msiza and Bafana Sindane are charged with extortion and two counts of money laundering.

The matter was re-enrolled after it was struck off the roll at the Kwaggafontein Magistrate’s Court in May when the prosecutor failed to appear in court.

It later emerged that there were alleged threats to his life.

Chief Magistrate Tuletu Tonjeni’s decision became the subject of an official inquiry by the Magistrates’ Commission.

Tonjeni retired shortly after the matter.
