Teenager charged after allegedly stashing machete in pants during brawl

A teenage boy is facing court on Thursday after allegedly stashing a machete down his pants and assaulting a police officer during a suburban train station brawl.

Police allege several people were fighting in Jane St in Penrith about 4.40pm on Wednesday when one produced a knife.

The teenager allegedly assaulted a responding officer following the arrest; however, none of the officers were injured or required treatment.

Police allege a search of the boy uncovered a machete stashed inside his pants.

The 16-year-old was charged with having custody of a knife in a public place, carrying a knife visible in a public place causing fear for safety, affray, and assaulting a police officer on duty.

The teenager was refused bail to appear before a children’s court on Thursday.
