Lotto winner’s shock as he checks ticket weeks after draw $2.1m two weeks ago
A Sydney man has been shocked to discover he won more than $2.1 million in Saturday Lotto two weeks ago.
The Bass Hill resident held one of three division one winning entries nationally in Saturday Lotto draw 4707 on August 29 but, incredibly, he had no idea he had become a millionaire.
The man finally checked his ticket and came forward to claim the staggering $2,110,193.37 in prize money.
“I can’t believe I had no idea this whole time. I initially thought it wasn’t drawn yet.
The man told The Lott he is planning some home renovations to turn his “house into a home”.
“This is incredible. I’ve honestly been playing lotteries since you guys started so I’m in a bit of shock,” he said.
The man purchased his winning ticket from Bass Hill Plaza News on the Hume Highway in Bass Hill.
The newsagency’s manager Tony Tran said staff were thrilled to discover they had sold a Division One winning ticket.
“It’s amazing. We’re very happy and excited and we’ve been sharing the great news with everyone,” he said.
“Our last winning ticket we sold was a syndicate division one winning entry in 2024, so it was definitely time we had another division one win.”
Since the winner was not a member of The Lott Members Club and didn’t have the ticket registered to a player card or online account, he was not alerted to the win, leaving the winning ticket sitting undiscovered for two weeks.
