Bradford was classified as a Code 1C patient, one of the highest-priority categories in the ambulance triage system.
Around six minutes later, a triple-0 operator called back to check on his condition, which was reportedly unchanged.
But paramedics did not arrive until about 12.10am, more than two hours after his call.
They then had to wait another half an hour for police to arrive and help them gain access to the home.
Bradford was found dead in his bed after suffering a catastrophic heart attack.
“He’s been on his own in that period, in fear, desperate for help which obviously didn’t arrive,” his brother Daniel Bradford said.
His family had believed an ambulance was only minutes away. They only learned the extent of the delay after watching 7NEWS reports on Thursday .
His brother described the devastating loss, particularly given the possibility Bradford could have been saved.
“Only until you’ve experienced that, I don’t think you can quite understand what it’s like,” he said.
“But then to lose them in a fashion that they possibly could have been saved. And, you know, that’s hard to reconcile with.”
Bradford, a civil engineer described as “loved by many”, lived just a few blocks from Princess Alexandra Hospital but was too unwell to drive himself.
