Nirmeen Noufl pleads guilty to manslaughter, admits killing husband Mahmoud Noufl

A woman has admitted killing her husband, pleading guilty to manslaughter as she was due to face trial for his murder in NSW’s highest court.

Mahmoud Noufl, 62, went missing in May 2023. His wife Nirmeen Noufl was charged with his murder in October the following year, with police alleging she killed her husband in their Greenacre home.

Prosecutors had alleged Noufl killed her husband before cutting up his body and hiding his remains, which have never been found.

Noufl’s trial before Justice Peter Hamill was due to begin in the Supreme Court of NSW this week, but the estimated 40-day hearing has now been scrapped after Noufl entered a plea of guilty to a lesser charge of manslaughter in an 11th-hour hearing on Wednesday.

“I plead guilty to manslaughter in the alternative,” Noufl said from an audiovisual link on Wednesday.
