Fire crews were on the scene into the night as they battled to control the blaze.
It was officially contained on Thursday morning, hours after the fire first broke out.
No injuries have been reported and emergency services remain on the scene.
“The extent of damage to the structure is unknown,” a Tasmania Fire Service statement read.
