Bizarre moment wannabe post office robber in Adelaide rejected, strips off
This is the bizarre moment a blithering wannabe robber stages a daring attempt to raid a post office – only to take no for an answer when challenged by brave staff.
The footage shows a man donning a bright orange top march into an Australia Post branch in Magill, east of Adelaide, and demand cash.
Once he reaches the counter, the man starts to fumble through his black manbag while making demands to the staff member.
However, when the teller blankly refuses to comply, the man appears to have second thoughts and aborts his mission within seconds.
A short while later, the visibly flustered individual was captured on separate CCTV cameras in nearby Jackson St removing his fluorescent top in a bid to disguise his identity.
The unusual incident unfolded just after 4.20pm on Monday, July 13 in the Magill Rd post office.
No members of staff were physically harmed during the robbery attempt.
Three months on, and police have released the blundering footage in the hope of tracing what may well be Australia’s least competent criminal.
The man is described as caucasian, about 165cm tall and of a large build.
He was wearing an orange hi-vis jumper, black pants, sneakers, sunglasses, gloves and a beanie hat.
Anybody who recognises the man, or has further CCTV footage that may help the investigation, should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
