Kim Kardashian breaks down in tears over health scare

Kim Kardashian is suffering from a health condition affecting the same part of the body where her late dad Robert Kardashian developed cancer.

The 45-year-old media personality shared in the season eight trailer for The Kardashians that she has "something called esophagitis", an inflammation of the esophagus, the muscular tube that moves food and liquid from the throat to the stomach.

The severity of her condition has not revealed, but she was seen crying in one clip.

Kim appears in a hospital bed wearing a gown in another clip, as someone off-camera asked: "Didn’t your father... isn’t it what he died of?".

The trailer cut to her 70-year-old mom Kris Jenner, Robert's ex-wife, who said: "I can’t, it makes me want to cry."

The University of Washington’s Division of Gastroenterology states that Chronic esophagitis is a "very common condition caused by acid gastric juice regurgitating into the esophagus (reflux)".

It added that "about 1 in 10 reflux patients will develop a complication called Barrett’s esophagus, in which the normal lining of the esophagus is replaced by one prone to cancer".

Kim's health has previously been a focus of The Kardashians, as in the 2025 season premiere, the SKIMS founder revealed she had

Her 47-year-old sister, Kourtney Kardashian, reacted: "Whoa!", before Kim added: "They [the doctors] were like: '[It's] just stress.'"

An aneurysm is a swelling in a blood vessel in the brain, and most small aneurysms do not need treatment if they are not causing symptoms.

The Kardashians teaser then cut to Kim talking about the turbulent time she went through as her marriage to 49-year-old rapper Kanye West, now known as Ye, crumbled.

She said: "I’m happy it’s over. My ex will be in my life no matter what. We have four kids together."

In the first episode of season seven, Kim is seen talking about her relationship with Kanye and their divorce, revealing she has felt "pretty tested" by him, and the stress prompted a flare-up of skin condition, psoriasis.

She said: “I haven’t had psoriasis since I got divorced, and it just started coming back. I mean, I have psoriasis again. I felt more stressed, probably just because I had to super, super protect what I had to protect.”
