Cop accused of 3D printing imitation Glock handguns
A police officer who allegedly made two imitation Glock handguns on a 3D printer at his home has been charged with weapons offences.
The 23-year-old probationary constable was seen carrying an imitation Glock by other officers at the Darwin Police Station on Wednesday, Northern Territory police said in a statement on Friday.
Police searched the officer's residence, allegedly seizing a second 3D-printed imitation Glock handgun and a 3D printer.
The officer was arrested and charged with two counts of making and possessing a prohibited weapon.
He was granted bail to appear in Darwin Local Court on October 27 and has been suspended with pay while investigations continue.
Austrian-designed Glock pistols are widely used in Australian police forces as standard-isssue sidearms.
