Homicide detectives called in after fatal shooting at Merrylands West home

A man has been shot dead in western Sydney, with police investigating the circumstances surrounding the attack.

Emergency services were called to Bruce St about 3.15pm on Wednesday after reports of a shooting.

Officers arrived to find a man, believed to be in his 30s, suffering a gunshot wound.

A crime scene has been established as detectives work to piece together what happened.

The fatal shooting came just a day after university student Marco Tapia was killed inside his Glen Alpine home, marking the second deadly shooting in Sydney this week.
