Powderfinger confirm they’re back 16 years after breaking up

Australian rock band Powderfinger have officially confirmed their reunion 16 years after disbanding and announced a 2027 tour following much speculation.

“Hello, everyone. We’re Powderfinger, and we’ve got a little announcement to make for you today,” guitarist Bernard Fanning said in the YouTube video posted Friday.

“We always said that if we were going to get back together to do some shows, that you guys would be the first to know. And so now you’re the first to know. We’re going to do some shows all around Australia from September next year.”

Cryptic billboards sprawled across three major citie s this week sparked rumours of a return for a Brisbane-born band.

The video’s caption stated that “everything” will be announced on Monday, October 12.
