Autopsy report reveals grisly details of Thai teen allegedly murdered by Simon Carman
The cause of death of a Thai teenager, who was allegedly murdered by an Australian man has been revealed.
Tunchanok ‘Cake’ Donhomla, 17, was found stuffed naked inside a suitcase dumped near railway tracks close to Pattaya Beach on June 25.
Australian man Simon Carman, 46, was arrested at the Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Bangkok while trying to board a flight to Perth.
He has been charged with the teenager’s murder and remains in custody.
Speaking to the ABC, Thailand Police Colonel Anek Srathongyoo confirmed the teenager died from suffocation.
“The autopsy report said that Cake had a brain injury and she suffocated,” he said.
He said there was allegedly DNA “found on Cake’s body” that matched Carman’s.
“I think by this Friday (August 21) we will conclude our investigation and submit the files to the prosecutor,” he said.
“I think we have collected 100 per cent of the evidence. Once it is brought before the court, the court can consider imposing a sentence quickly.”
According to Mr Srathongyoo, Thai prosecutors have until September 18 to indict Carman.
A friend reported the teen missing after walking off with a man, with police tracking her using CCTV footage and allegedly seeing her enter the Australian’s building.
At about 11pm local time on Friday, the teenager’s naked body was found stuffed into a suitcase alongside a railway line – about 10 minutes from the hotel where she was last seen.
Carman claimed the teenager’s strangulation death was in an act of “self defence”.
The heartbroken family of the teenager said they were relieved by the development of the case, with the teenager’s father explaining he didn’t have inside access into the proceedings.
