Paul Dougan: Four suspects in bashing of Perth dad fled Indonesia after alleged late-night attack
Bali police are investigating whether Perth father Paul Dougan was assaulted after he stepped in to confront a group of tourists over a separate assault of a woman.
Mr Dougan died on Thursday after undergoing multiple surgeries following an assault in Bali, more than two weeks after he was allegedly attacked by up to four people at One Tribe One Life Lounge and Cafe in Kuta.
Details of a police investigation obtained by The West state Mr Dougan was allegedly attacked around 2am at the bar on August 5.
While Mr Dougan’s injuries did not initially present as severe, his condition deteriorated on August 8 before he was rushed to hospital in an ambulance.
His son, who was also in Bali, then transported him to another hospital, where he sadly died from his injuries on Thursday.
In a statement given to investigating police, his son Liam Dougan said his dad had shared details of what occurred in the attack prior to his health worsening.
