AFL star Bailey Humphrey wins hearts as ‘extremely wholesome’ moment with young fan goes viral
Bailey Humphrey has won the hearts of AFL fans around the country after taking the time to chat with a young girl over the fence during Gold Coast ’s season finale on Thursday night.
The Suns defeated St Kilda in a dead rubber as both sides played only for pride and their teammates. But Humphrey ensured it was a night to remember for a girl in the front row.

Humphrey hung back on the boundary as Ethan Read then Jed Walter took shots at goal midway through the third quarter.
And as the 21-year-old was getting his breath back he noticed an inquisitive girl lean over.
Humphrey stood up and smiled as the pair enjoyed a chat and a laugh during the stoppage, the Suns star appearing to ask the girl to name her favourite player.
The footage quickly went viral as what the AFL described as “extremely wholesome” proved to be just the tonic for many after a difficult news week.
One more said: “This is a great example for men in general with the way things are at present and especially with the Swans debacle. Respect!”
Another said: “I love seeing this part of footy, instead of the negativity all the time! These professional athletes do a lot of good behind the scenes. Nice to see the human element.”
“So sweet. I hope he said something to her that was pure hearted and kind. She’ll never forget that brief chat,” one wrote.
Another said: “Brilliant! So good to take the time to make a young girl feel very special. Well done!”
Former 7NEWS Queensland reporter turned political candidate Bianca Stone wrote: “What a cutie! And a gorgeous little girl too.. lots of love for the Gold Coast Suns.”
Humphrey, from Moe, explored a move home to Victoria last year and even met with Melbourne coach Steven King during the trade period.
Held to his contract, he was understood to still be on the radar for several Victorian clubs — but just this week he put pen to paper on an extension until the end of 2030.
