On The Run puts forward third attempt to get 24/7 petrol station on Guildford Road through to State officials

On The Run has made another bid to win approval for its controversial $2.5 million 24-hour petrol station on one of WA’s most dangerous roads, despite opposition from residents, the council and Main Roads WA.

On The Run has put forward another attempt to win approval for its plans to build a $2.5 million 24-hour petrol station on one of WA’s most dangerous roads.

The proposal has been recommended for refusal by the City of Bayswater, local residents and Main Roads WA.

In October, the Metro Inner Development Assessment Panel gave the applicants 180 days to address concerns about traffic safety and environmental impacts.

In March, the panel voted to give them another 180 days for more work.

The new application, which is on the City of Bayswater’s website and open for public comment, contains 11 separate documents, including management plans, a vapour impact assessment, an acoustic report and a response to State planning policy design principles.

Fuel and retail sales would be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

There would be fuel deliveries from Monday to Saturday, but none on Sundays or public holidays.

A drive-through facility and convenience store would operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

An automated car wash and vacuum bay would operate from 7am to 10pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 10pm on weekends and public holidays.

The 2805sqm site contains a disused service station and a dwelling, both of which would be demolished to make way for the project.

The proposal has drawn significant community backlash, with 100 objections based on its proximity to homes, safety, amenity and operational intensity.

Access to the petrol station would be from Kenworth Street and Guildford Road.

A 3m precast concrete boundary fence is proposed along the south-eastern boundary, with a 4m fence along the north-western portion.
