Darwin woman dies, partner arrested over alleged DV order breach
A woman in her 20s has died in suburban Darwin and her partner has been arrested for an alleged breach of a domestic violence order.
The woman, aged 28, was declared dead soon after paramedics arrived at the home on Wednesday morning.
Neighbours told the NT News they heard “massive screaming” from the house in the early hours and police had been called to the home multiple times during the past week.
In a statement, police said the woman’s 26-year-old partner was arrested at the house “for an alleged prior assault on the victim” in the hours before emergency services were called.
Images from the scene show a children’s swing set and toys in the front yard.
The police spokesperson said in a statement a neighbour found the unresponsive 28-year-old woman and called triple-0 about 9.20am.
“Upon police arrival, CPR was commenced, before paramedics took over and the woman was declared deceased a short time later,” the spokesperson said.
“The exact circumstances surrounding the death remain under investigation, and the cause of death is currently unknown.
“The victim’s 26-year-old male partner was arrested at the scene for an alleged prior assault on the victim in the hours proceeding, and for breaching a domestic violence order against the victim. He currently remains in custody.”
