One Nation MP Cory Bernardi suspended from Facebook after legal threats

One Nation MP Cory Bernardi has reportedly been suspended from Facebook after videos during the student protest against Pauline Hanson outside SA parliament were flagged by parents.

Mr Bernardi took to X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday afternoon, claiming he had faced “legal threats from parents of kids at the anti-Hanson protest, demanding we delete our viral video of what happened in broad daylight on the steps of Parliament House”.

Social media videos uploaded by Mr Bernardi were taken on the steps outside Parliament House during the student protest against Pauline Hanson’s One Nation Party on August 13.

Footage showed Mr Bernardi filming himself on the steps of parliament at the protest, roaming through the crowd and approaching students.

During the video, he asked one student “why aren’t you chanting?” while holding a camera in her face.

Footage also showed Mr Bernardi calling the protesters “an extraordinarily small bunch of losers” and “incels”, as well as anti-transgender remarks.

The clips were uploaded onto Instagram and Facebook, which are both owned by Meta, and appear to have been removed.

Mr Bernardi said he has since been facing legal threats from the parents of children in the clips.

“These students performed for the cameras, used vile language and made threats, knowing they were being filmed,” he said in a social media post.
