Historic 2027 Tour Down Under broadcast locked in on Seven and 7plus Sport

Australia’s greatest cycling race the Santos Tour Down Under (TDU) will remain live and free on the Seven Network, with a multi-year broadcast deal confirmed.

It means the long-standing partnership, which began in 2019, will see the Seven Network continue to hold exclusive domestic rights to broadcast the race across the screens of Seven and 7plus Sport .

Next January will be an historic edition of the race with the TDU to become the first in the world to hold men’s and women’s racing over the same distance and on the same day.

The men’s race will be held over six stages from January 19-24, coinciding with the three-stage women’s race from January 22-24, and culminating with a bumper final weekend in Willunga and Stirling.

The new agreement with Seven will see every stage of both men’s and women’s races continue to be broadcast live and in their entirety across the network’s linear channels and streaming platform 7plus Sport .

Viewers will be able to watch coverage of both men’s and women’s races live on separate broadcasts when they begin from 10.30am and 12.10pm respectively.

Coverage of both races will include their own specialist commentary teams delivering expert analysis, roadside updates and separate motos and helicopters providing vision from the road and the air. A full breakdown of where each stage can be seen will be available closer to the event.

International broadcast partners will have access to both men’s and women’s races, which this year reached 190 international markets with almost 1400 hours of broadcast coverage.

The TDU’s world-class commentary teams provide insight and entertainment for every stage of men’s and women’s racing, with details of the 2027 commentary teams coming soon.

Race Director Stuart O’Grady said: “The 2027 Santos Tour Down Under will make history when the men’s and women’s pelotons race over the same distance, on the same day, and we are thrilled it will remain on the screens of the Seven Network so people all across Australia can tune in and feel part of the action.

“Central to holding men’s and women’s races on the same days next year was ensuring it continues to deliver on our commitment to broadcasting both races in full, and this model will ensure we reach as many cycling fans as possible.

“The ongoing partnership with Seven ensures South Australia and our season-opening UCI WorldTour event will continue to be showcased to a massive audience beyond those cheering on the riders from the side of the roads.”

Seven Network Head of Sport – Digital Kirsty Bradmore said: “The Santos Tour Down Under is one of Australia’s greatest sporting events and we’re incredibly proud to continue our commitment to making every glittering moment accessible to all Australians, live and free on Seven and 7plus.

“There is something incredibly special about seeing the world’s best cyclists competing afront a picturesque South Australian backdrop, and we want every Australian to have the opportunity to be part of it, wherever they are.
