Accused killer Greg Lynn set to make new application for bail
Former Jetstar pilot Greg Lynn will launch a fresh effort to be released on bail ahead of a retrial next year.
The 60-year-old filed documents seeking his freedom with the Victorian Supreme Court this week, with a hearing set down for October 22 before Chief Justice Richard Niall.
Mr Lynn is accused of murdering of Carol Clay, 73, while she was on a camping trip with Russell Hill, 74, in the remote Wonnangatta Valley, in Victoria’s high country, in March 2020.
A new trial on the charge was ordered in December last year after the Court of Appeal found “fundamental unfairness” had permeated his first trial and there had been a substantial miscarriage of justice.
In March, Mr Lynn had a bid for bail knocked back by Justice David Beach who found he had not demonstrated exceptional circumstances justifying his release.
His new trial has been scheduled to run in May 2027 before Justice Michael O’Connell.
