Ottawa police investigating early-morning shooting

A man in his 20s was transported to the hospital with life-threatening gunshot injuries after being found on Bank Street near Heron Road early Saturday.

“Paramedics can’t comment on the nature of the injuries — it’s a police matter — but from a medical perspective we can say that the injuries were … going through the skin,” Ottawa Paramedic Service operations commander Kevin Montgomery said.

As of Saturday afternoon, police had not announced any arrests in connection with the case.

The Ottawa Police Service ‘s Guns and Gangs Unit and East Investigations Section were investigating, a news release said.

Anyone with information about the case was asked to call the OPS Guns and Gangs Unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 5050. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers toll-free at 1-800-222-8477 or online at crimestoppers.ca.
