Braydon Fisher to open for Blue Jays in Saturday bullpen game

The Toronto Blue Jays have named their starter for Saturday's game against the New York Yankees.

Right-hander Braydon Fisher will open the bullpen game against Yankees star Cam Schlittler, the Blue Jays announced.

Fisher owns a 3.54 ERA and a 3-3 record in 2026, with 67 strikeouts and 33 walks across 61.0 innings of work.

Manager John Schneider told reporters that right-hander Simeon Woods Richardson will be part of the Blue Jays' plan "in some capacity."

The 25-year-old was re-acquired by the Blue Jays — he was part of the Blue Jays organization from 2020-2021 — from the Minnesota Twins on June 3 and has appeared in three games, owning a 0.69 ERA across 13.0 innings with seven strikeouts and eight walks.

Sportsnet's Ben Nicholson-Smith also reported earlier Friday that the Blue Jays are considering calling up former No. 1 prospect Ricky Tiedemann for the first time. Tiedemann has been pitching out of the bullpen over the last week at triple-A in his first game action since undergoing Tommy John surgery two years ago.

After a come-from-behind win on Friday, Toronto will face a tough opponent in Schlittler, who has a slight edge over Blue Jays ace Dylan Cease in the AL Cy Young race. The 25-year-old star has a 2.21 ERA and a 10-6 record over 146.2 innings of work.

Watch the game live on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+ with coverage starting at 2:30 p.m. ET / 11:30 a.m. PT.
