Report: Avalanche’s Joe Sakic to remain full-time general manager

Sakic will remain the full-time general manager of the Colorado Avalanche , The Denver Gazette's Evan Rawal reported Monday.

The team will not conduct a general manager search, with "reinvigorated" the word being used to describe Sakic back in the GM role, per Rawal.

Sakic, who won two Cup championships with Colorado, stepped back into the role of GM after Chris MacFarland left the organization in early June to take over as president of hockey operations/general manager of the Nashville Predators.

He was also the architect who built the Avalanche in 2021-22 when the team won a Stanley Cup title.

Sakic already completed the biggest task on his to-do list this off-season, locking up franchise defenceman Cale Makar on the largest contract in NHL history.

The Avalanche won the Presidents' Trophy last season with a franchise-best 121 points, but then were swept by Vegas in the Western Conference Final.
