Westburne Marks 100 Years of Powering Canada by Investing in What Comes Next

MISSISSAUGA, Ontario — Westburne, one of Canada’s largest electrical solutions and supply distributors, is marking its 100th anniversary by accelerating its evolution from distributor to solutions provider and investing in the skilled trades, technical expertise and communities that will power Canada’s next century.

Throughout 2026, Westburne is investing $60,000 in 12 skilled-trades scholarships across three provinces – Quebec, Alberta and Ontario – with $15,000 directed to each participating school. The investment comes as demand for trades credentials remains significant: Statistics Canada reported that 13.3 per cent of job vacancies in the fourth quarter of 2025 required a trade certificate or diploma, just below the record high of 13.9 per cent a year earlier. Westburne is also expanding capabilities in areas including industrial automation, EV infrastructure, energy-efficient technologies and connected AI solutions.

Its cross-Canada centennial program began in Brandon in June, continued in Laval on August 13, and moves to Edmonton and Mississauga in September.

From a single location in Turner Valley, Alta., Westburne has grown to more than 100 branches and over 1,000 employees nationwide. Long-tenured employees and local teams have helped build the company around reliability, strong relationships and deep product and technical knowledge.

That network supports the projects that build and sustain Canadian communities, from hospitals, schools, factories and farms to commercial developments, transit infrastructure and major infrastructure projects like Toronto’s Rogers Centre and Montreal’s Hydro-Québec Jean Lesage station.

Westburne’s centennial is supported by longstanding manufacturer partners including Rockwell Automation, Eaton, ABB, IPEX, Hubbell, RAB Design, Brady, Ouellet, Stanpro, and nVent, reflecting decades of collaboration on projects across Canada.

As part of its centennial commitment, Westburne President Anshul Mathur summited Mt. Rainier from August 22 to 24 to raise funds for Raising the Roof, a national Canadian charity focused on long-term homelessness prevention. Westburne is matching all eligible donations up to CAD $15,000.

As Canada’s electrical infrastructure grows in complexity, Westburne’s role is expanding with it.
