Xtract One Technologies Selected by Metro Toronto Convention Centre to Enhance Security for World-Class Events
16 Xtract One Gateway Systems to Protect Both Buildings of Canada’s Leading Convention Facility Across More Than a Dozen Entry Points
TORONTO, Aug. 27, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Xtract One Technologies (TSX: XTRA)(OTCQX: XTRAF)(FRA: 0PL) (“Xtract One” or the “Company”) today announced that the Metro Toronto Convention Centre (“MTCC”) has selected Xtract One Gateway for deployment across both its North and South buildings in downtown Toronto. The deployment, a five-year contract, will see 16 Xtract One Gateway systems installed across a dozen or more entry points in two phases, reflecting growing interest in Xtract One Gateway from major convention and event facilities across North America.
The Metro Toronto Convention Centre is one of North America’s most active and high-profile convention destinations. The facility features 442,000 square feet of exhibit space, 77 meeting rooms, multi-purpose ballrooms, and a state-of-the-art theatre for performing arts and corporate events. The scale and diversity of events hosted at the MTCC, from international trade shows to large-scale corporate conferences, requires security infrastructure that keeps entry moving without disrupting the experience that has made the facility a top choice for event planners worldwide.

“As a Toronto-based company, having the Metro Toronto Convention Centre select Xtract One carries real weight for us,” said Peter Evans, CEO of Xtract One Technologies. “The MTCC hosts events that draw international audiences and demand a security program that performs at that level across every entry point, every event type, and every configuration. Sixteen systems across both buildings reflects the confidence they’ve placed in us, and we’re committed to delivering a program that lives up to that trust.”
“The safety and security of our visitors is a top priority at the MTCC. With events varying in size, audience and configuration, we needed a security program that is adaptable, effective and supports a seamless guest experience,” said Ron Pellerine, Chief Operations Officer. “We’re especially proud to partner with a Canadian company whose innovation is helping us strengthen security while showcasing Canadian technology and maintaining the welcoming experience our guests and clients expect.”
Xtract One Gateway is designed for environments where individuals regularly carry laptops, backpacks, and high volumes of personal belongings as part of their daily routine. The MTCC evaluated a number of vendors through a rigorous RFP procurement process before selecting Xtract One Gateway, with the unique operational requirements of a convention facility. The system identifies and classifies specific threat objects while accurately distinguishing them from everyday items, without requiring individuals to stop, remove items, or submit to bag checks. Security staff receive specific alerts identifying what triggered and exactly where on the individual’s body, making secondary screening faster and more precise.
