Kinley Rasmus ties another record at Little League World Series

Kinley Rasmus continues to dominate on the mound at the Little League World Series.

The 12-year-old right-hander pitched 4.2 innings of relief on Monday, striking out six batters, to help her Phenix City, Ala. squad advance with a 6-5 win over a team from West Chester, Pa.

Rasmus now has recorded 14 strikeouts in the tournament, tying Mo'Ne Davis in 2014 for the most ever by a girl.

The niece of former Blue Jays outfielder Colby Rasmus, Kinley Rasmus has been a standout at the annual tournament featuring players aged 10-12. In her first start, an extra-innings loss to a team from Tacoma, Wash., she allowed just one hit while walking two and striking out eight. Her eight strikeouts in that outing also tied a Davis record for most by a girl in a single game.

"It's just so amazing," Rasmus told ESPN before her tournament debut. "The opportunity is so great, it's going to be such a blast and I'm just ready to play."

When she isn't pitching, Rasmus has made an impact with her bat, with three hits, two RBIs, two runs scored and two walks. She has also flashed her glove, robbing an opponent with a slick leaping catch at shortstop .

Rasmus and Phenix City will look to keep their run at the tournament going on Tuesday in a rematch against the team from Tacoma.
