Blue Jackets sign D Carson Soucy to professional tryout contract
The Columbus Blue Jackets are adding some depth to their blue line ahead of training camp.
Defenceman Carson Soucy has signed a professional tryout contract with the Blue Jackets, the team announced Sunday.
Soucy, 32, began last season with the New York Rangers, but was dealt to the Islanders ahead of the trade deadline for a third-round pick.
In 76 games between the two teams, the Viking, Alta., native tallied five goals and seven assists, while playing to a minus-six rating. He also logged 91 blocked shots and 105 hits.
Since being drafted in the fifth round (137th overall) in 2013, Soucy has split time between the Minnesota Wild, Seattle Kraken, Vancouver Canucks, Rangers and Islanders. He has 32 goals and 67 assists in 441 games over eight seasons.
