Tiger Woods gets 5-year licence suspension after plea deal over rollover crash in Florida

Legendary golfer initially pleaded not guilty to a driving under the influence charge after the crash near his home in March

Tiger Woods will have his licence suspended for five years ⁠after reaching a plea deal ⁠on Wednesday related to his impaired-driving case.

The ⁠15-time major champion, who initially pleaded not guilty, was present for the change-of-plea hearing when Judge Darren Steele said two five-year driving licence suspensions will run at the same time: one on a reckless driving charge and one on a careless driving citation.

The 50-year-old Woods, who was also handed fines, has 30 days to appeal against the ruling.

Woods also pleaded no contest to refusing to submit to testing and was fined court costs, according to court documents.

A no-contest plea is not an admission of guilt, but means the accused will offer no defence. The plea is treated as a conviction in the criminal justice system.

“There are no exceptions. If ‌you were to drive for any reason at all, you would go immediately back to jail,” Steele told the court.
