Wang Zhiyi, Han Yue reach BWF Worlds last eight as Chen and Li bow out

Chinese players Wang Zhiyi and Han Yue advanced to the women's singles quarterfinals at the BWF World Championships in New Delhi on Thursday, while Chen Yufei was knocked out after a three-game battle against Thailand's Pornpawee Chochuwong.

Wang defeated India's P.V.

Sindhu 21-11, 15-21, 21-17, while Han overcame the Republic of Korea's Kim Ga-eun 21-19, 20-22, 21-14.

The score of Chen's defeat by Chochuwong was 15-21, 25-23, 21-17.

China's men's singles campaign came to an end after Li Shifeng was beaten by Japan's Kodai Naraoka 13-21, 23-21, 21-11.

Liang Weikeng and Wang Chang reached the men's doubles quarterfinals with a 22-20, 8-21, 21-19 victory over Denmark's Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen.

Hu Keyuan and Lin Xiangyi edged Daniel Lundgaard/Mads Vestergaard 21-14, 16-21, 21-16.

All three Chinese duos advanced to the women's doubles.

Liu Shengshu and Tan Ning beat Bulgaria's Gabriela Stoeva and Stefani Stoeva 21-16, 21-18.

Jia Yifan and Zhang Shuxian defeated Chinese Taipei's Hsieh Pei-shan and Hung En-tzu 21-11, 21-18, while Li Yijing and Luo Xumin got past Hsu Ya-ching and Sung Yu-Hsuan 21-13, 21-15.

China also swept all four mixed doubles contests.

Feng Yanzhe and Huang Dongping beat Japan's Yuta Watanabe and Mayu Taguchi 21-19, 21-18, while Jiang Zhenbang and Wei Yaxin defeated Thailand's Pakkapon Teeraratsakul and Sapsiree Taerattanachai 21-12, 21-17.

Cheng Xing and Zhang Chi beat Malaysia's Goh Soon Huat and Shevon Jemie Lai 21-15, 21-12, while Guo Xinwa and Chen Fanghui completed China's mixed doubles sweep with a 21-16, 21-5 victory over India's Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto.
