Belagavi MLA Abhay Patil injured in Delhi car accident, out of danger: Police

Abhay Patil, MLA from Belagavi dakshin, was among the six injured in a road accident in New Delhi on Sunday (August 23, 2026) night.

A hatchback that hit a divider, crossed the other railing and hit the SUV in which Mr. Patil was travelling in the opposite direction. It occurred near the PWD office under the jurisdiction of I.P. Estate police station in central Delhi.

Mr. Patil and Anil Jha, MLA from Kirari assembly constituency in Delhi were travelling in the car.

Police and fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot and carried out rescue operations. The injured were immediately admitted to Loknayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) Hospital for treatment.

It is reported that all those injured in the accident suffered minor injuries, none of them was seriously injured and their health is stable.

The police have inspected the spot in the wake of the accident and an investigation is underway to find out the exact cause of the incident, Delhi police said in a release.
