A 40-year-old man was arrested for allegedly killing his wife and dumping her body in the river at Tirur in Malappuram.
Hussain Andippatt from Padinjarekkara was arrested in connection with the death of his wife, Fousiya, 37. The police said he killed her and dumped her body in the river.
Hussain was arrested from Pookayil while travelling by a bus following a tip-off.
The police said Hussain took Fousiya from home on Wednesday evening after telling her that they were going to the seashore to collect fish that had washed ashore. The couple did not return, prompting their two children to approach the police on Thursday evening.
The investigation led to the recovery of Fousiya’s body from the Tirur river near Padinjarekkara. The body was found in a sack.
