TDP Polit Bureau member Varla Ramaiah said on Thursday that YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy got the investigation into the slew of corruption cases dragged on for 15 years, but he no longer had that luxury as the courts were set to conduct trial on a daily basis.
As a consequence, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy appeared to be in deep trouble, while the Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy murder probe, as part of which Kadapa MP Y.S. Avinash Reddy was questioned by the Enforcement Directorate for two consecutive days, compounded his woes, he stated.
Addressing the media persons at the TDP central office near Mangalagiri, Mr. Ramaiah said it was the CBI that stated on the basis of concrete evidence that Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy amassed wealth amounting to nearly ₹43,000 crore when his father was the Chief Minister and, as the courts were turning the heat on him, the YSRCP chief was desperate to somehow wriggle out of the dire situation.
He observed that the noose was tightening around Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s neck in some other major scandals, and the investigating agencies were zeroing in on the conspirators in the sensational Vivekananda Reddy murder case. The YSRCP chief initially wanted it to be inquired by the CBI, but changed his stand later for reasons best known to him.
The YSRCP was trying its best to vitiate the conduct of the local body elections as it realised that it had little chance of winning the battle, Mr. Ramaiah said, adding that what it feared was bound to happen.
