AIADMK Hosur MLA P. Balakrishna Reddy on Friday urged the State government to give up the proposed greenfield airport in Hosur over concerns raised by the farmers in the district.
Speaking in the Assembly, Mr. Reddy said the State government should not pursue the project after Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay had cancelled the Parandur airport project near Chennai, for which substantial land acquisition had already taken place.
In response to a passing mention by Sholavandhan MLA, M.V. Karuppaiah, that former DMK president M. Karunanidhi wasn’t present in the Assembly during the 2011-16 period, former DMK Minister R. Sakkarapani said the late leader had not been present in the Assembly because the government of the time did not make arrangements to accommodate his wheelchair.
