Deputy Commissioner chairs peace committee meeting in view of Ganesh festival

Deputy Commissioner Rahul Pandve has called upon citizens to celebrate the upcoming Ganesh festival with harmony, brotherhood, and a spirit of solidarity.

​Presiding over a peace committee meeting on Wednesday, which brought together community leaders, prominent religious figures, and officers from various government departments, the Deputy Commissioner emphasised the need for communal unity throughout the celebrations.

​Mr. Pandve announced that any organisation, group, or individual intending to install a public Ganesh idol must obtain prior permission through a single-window system set up by the administration.

​To ensure safety and order from the installation to the immersion of idols, the administration and law enforcement, led by Mr. Pandve and Superintendent of Police Pruthvik Shankar, discussed the guidelines established by the State government.

​Organisers must submit personal identification documents for at least five committee members alongside their permission application.

The use of loudspeakers will be restricted to the time limits specified by the administration, particularly during immersion processions.

The Excise Department has been directed to enforce a total ban on the sale of liquor across all designated immersion days.

​The Yadgir City Municipal Council has prepared designated immersion sites at Sannakere and Doddkere based on the area where idols are going to be installed. While only authorised personnel will be permitted till the edge of the water during the immersion, emergency measures will be fully active. The Fire and Emergency Services personnel, police staff, Home Guards, and expert swimmers will be deployed at these points on the 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th, 11th, and 21st days of the festival.

Mr. Shankar warned that strict legal action would be taken against anyone posting objectionable or provocative content on social media that threatens communal harmony.

​He said that adequate security arrangements (bandobast) have been deployed across the district to maintain law and order.

​Additional Deputy Commissioner Ramesh Kolar, president of the Veerashaiva Lingayat Mahasabha Channappagouda Mosambi, Dalit leader Mareppa Chattarkar, Suresh Jain, and M.D. Junaid, among other department officials were present.
