A t least ‌384 travellers, including 291 foreign ⁠nationals, have been reported ‌missing after torrential ‌floods in ‌the Tibet border area of the Himalayan nation ‌of Nepal on Wednesday (August 26, 2026), the country’s ‌tourism board said.

The massive flash flood washed away villages while damaging roads, bridges and ‌power projects in a region bordering Tibet, authorities said. The flooding was not caused by local rains in Rasuwa but possibly because of the heavy rainfall or avalanche on the Tibetan side, they said, but the exact cause is yet to be ascertained.

About 50 pilgrims from Tamil Nadu were stranded in Nepal today, after an early morning flash flood triggered landslips in their route.

Officials of the Tamil Nadu government have initiated action towards their rescue upon receiving the alert, official sources said.

In view of the flood threat in Bihar due to torrential rain and glacier burst in Nepal, Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary over the phone.

The Home Minister assured the State government of all possible assistance to deal with the potential crisis.

Eight South Koreans working on a hydropower plant were missing, ‌and 10 others were stranded, following a massive flash ⁠flood along the Nepal-Tibet border, Yonhap News Agency reported today, citing ‌South Korea’s Foreign Ministry.

The workers were employed by ‌Korea Energy and Doosan Enerbility ‌Co, ⁠the report said, ⁠adding that Nepal has deployed a rescue team to search the affected area.

Another 10 South ‌Korean workers affiliated with Doosan Enerbility are stranded in the area and awaiting a ‌helicopter sent by Nepalese authorities to evacuate them, it said.

South Korea has established ⁠a task force led by the Foreign Minister and plans ‌to send a joint rapid-response team comprising government officials and fire and police authorities to Nepal as soon as possible, the report said.
