Two persons were killed and three sustained injuries after a car collided with a truck here on Sunday night (August 23, 2026).
According to the police, P. Karthick (34), a resident of Ernapuram in Namakkal, was working as an engineer at a private company in Bengaluru. On Sunday around 10 p.m., he was headed to Salem by car. His brother P. Aravind (32), friends R. Rohitson (26), Jithendran (28) and Jagath (32) were also in the car.
While the car was approaching the Salem-Namakkal National Highway near Nallipalayam, the car collided with a container truck that was parked on the roadside. In the accident, Karthick, and Rohitson, who drove the car, sustained grievous injuries and died on the spot. The trio who sustained injuries were admitted to a private hospital. The Nallipalayam police registered a case and are investigating further.
