The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR) of Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (Jipmer), conducted a focused awareness initiative to promote physical activity and prevent non-communicable diseases (NCDs) among young people.

As part of the programme, a week-long health awareness campaign was organised in four government schools at Gorimedu, Mudaliarpet, Katterikuppam and Embalam.

According to a press note, the sessions highlighted healthy lifestyle practices and the importance of regular physical activity in preventing NCDs. The awareness sessions, included presentations aligned with World Physiotherapy guidelines, exercise videos, community-outreach handbills and a healthy lifestyle pledge to adopt healither and more physically-active lifestyles.

The initiative reflected Jipmer’s foucs on preventive healthcare and community-based health education.
