Seven devotees died and 12 were injured in a stampede at Ashok Dham temple in Bihar ’s Lakhisarai on Monday morning (August 17, 2026).
The District Magistrate Shailendra Kumar said there was stampede at 6:40 am due to a heavy rush of devotees at the temple.
The incident occurred as devotees rushed to offer water to lord Shiva in the holy month of Shravan.
Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Shivam Kumar said, “Police personnel and officials of the district administration have reached the spot, and the rescue work is on.”
