Accumulating ₹28,000 crore in debt is 100 day-achievement of TVK-led government, alleges Palaniswami

AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami said on Saturday that accumulating ₹28,000 crore in debt was the 100-day achievement of the TVK-led government.

He was participating at a party function in Dharmapuri, in which 3,700 people from the AMMK joined the AIADMK in his presence.

Speaking at the function, Mr. Palaniswami explained the achievements of the AIADMK government. The TVK had accidentally won the elections and come to power, and the party has no ideology or vision. The Ministers in the TVK-led Cabinet did not know how to function and how to reply to the questions raised by the Opposition parties in the Assembly, he alleged.

One of the Ministers allegedly termed farmers as a mafia, he said, and pointed out that only three Ministers had been answering all questions, while the rest remained silent, owing to their lack of experience.

“If we raise a question, the Ministers give unrelated answers,” he said. “If the TVK-led government completes five years, the State’s debt would be phenomenally high,” Mr. Palaniswami alleged.

Charging that people’s issues were not being discussed in the Assembly, Mr. Palaniswami said: “The TVK claims that the Assembly is being conducted for 10 hours a day. But for how many hours did they discuss people’s issues? Like Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay-starrer Jananayagan , this government will also fail. The last DMK government also did not do anything when it was in power and left the State deep in debt.”

As Mr. Palaniswami was speaking, the venue’s power supply was disrupted. “This is an example of TVK-led government rule. During the AIADMK government, three-phase power was given to farmers, and they were provided uninterrupted electricity. But now, power cuts occur everywhere across the State, he added.
