Kanniyakumari District Crime Branch (DCB) police have arrested a man for allegedly cheating a woman of ₹34 lakh after promising to arrange the purchase of a 11-cent vacant plot at Kattayanvilai in Nagercoil.

According to police, S. Gandhi, 43, of Nadukkadu in Kanniyakumari district received ₹34 lakh from Jeyanthi, 58, of Kanchipuram district through G-Pay and RTGS transactions, for arranging the purchase of a plot. However, he allegedly delayed registering the land in her name and also failed to return the money despite her repeated requests.

Based on her complaint, DCB police registered a case and arrested Gandhi. Further investigations are on.
