Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (Coimbatore) Ltd. recently organised a week-long programme to spread awareness on Right to Information Act, 2005 across its jurisdiction, which also encompasses Erode, Tiruppur and the Nilgiris districts.
The initiative was led by Managing Director S. Gopalakrishnan and focused on transparency, enhancing a sense of responsibility, and curbing corruption. Pamphlets were issued to passengers and the public, underscoring the three points.
In 2025, the corporation had received and addressed 2,658 petitions under the RTI Act in the four districts.
About 50% of the petitions pertained to the terminal benefits of the employees, and the remaining pertained to new routes, stoppages, and queries on the Vettri Payanam Scheme.
So far, this year, up to 800 petitions in Coimbatore district have been addressed, official sources said.
The corporation has also conducted separate awareness programmes on RTI Act for its employee unions.
