Xiaomi TV FX Mini LED 65 Review: A Mini LED TV That Gets the Basics Right
The Xiaomi TV FX Mini LED 65 brings some interesting features and a competitive price of Rs. 64,999. Check out the review to know more.
Large-screen TVs were once considered only for ultra-premium buyers, as most of them used to cost well over Rs. 1 lakh. However, over the past few years, we have seen multiple brands launch big-screen TVs with the latest technologies at more affordable price points, and Xiaomi is one of them. The company recently introduced its FX Mini LED TV series, starting at Rs. 32,999 for the 43-inch variant and going up to Rs. 84,999 for the 75-inch variant. I have been using the 65-inch model for a while now, which comes with a price tag of Rs. 64,999. On paper, the FX Mini LED 65 looks like a well-equipped TV, but does it have the right ingredients to be the right fit for your home? Here's what you need to know:
The first thing you will notice about the latest Xiaomi TV FX Mini LED 65 is how it makes the screen the centre of attention. It has slim bezels around the display and a high screen-to-body ratio of around 98 percent, which helps the Smart TV look considerably more expensive than its price tag. The frame is finished in black and uses a combination of metal and plastic, while the supplied feet are plastic.
The Xiaomi FX Mini LED TV 65 is available in a single black colour option and offers an almost bezel-less display
At 65 inches, this one is obviously not a television you casually move around once it is installed. The panel measures 1445mm across and is 66mm thick without the stand. With the stand attached, the television measures 1445 x 312 x 901mm and weighs about 17kg without the base. Xiaomi supports a 400 x 400mm wall mount, so wall mounting is an option if you want a cleaner setup.
The two-piece stand is fairly wide, which is worth keeping in mind if you plan to place the TV on existing furniture. Interestingly, the TV also comes with multiple mounting points for the stand, which makes it easier to adjust the stand to where you want to keep it. But do note that it still requires a reasonable amount of space to sit securely. Wall mounting makes more sense with this screen size, as it allows better, more secure placement.
On the back, you get a fairly standard port layout. The connectivity options are all placed on the left side, while the power cable is placed on the right, which is a good thing. The left side features three HDMI ports, one supporting eARC; two USB ports; an Ethernet port; an AV port; an optical audio port; a 3.5mm audio jack; and two antenna input ports. The ports are placed quite conveniently, and you can access them even while installing it on the wall.
This Smart TV uses a 65-inch 4K QD Mini LED panel with a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels. Xiaomi lists 76 local dimming zones for the 65-inch model, with a typical contrast ratio of 6000:1 and peak brightness up to 600 nits. Colour coverage is rated at up to 93 percent of the DCI-P3 gamut. The TV also features Vivid Picture Engine 2, HDR10, HDR10+, HLG and Filmmaker Mode.
