A goodwill visit by Moozhiyar police officers to a tribal settlement near the Kochandi check post here turned into an act of compassion when they discovered that four families were struggling even to find their next meal.

The team, comprising station house officer A.R. Ravindran, sub-inspector Anilkumar and civil police officers Chinchu Bose and Vineeth, had visited the settlement to invite its residents to the Onam feast at the police station on Monday (August 24, 2026).

During their interaction with the families, the officers asked the children what they had eaten that morning, only to learn that they had not eaten anything that day and often went without food for days.

The officers immediately returned to the station and, with the help of their colleagues, came back with groceries, vegetables and fish for the four families. They also brought biscuits and other bakery items for the children.

The food supplies brought some cheer to the families, who happily accepted the invitation for a feast at the police station.

During further interaction, the children later also conveyed the officers about the difficulty they faced in getting to school. “They said they wanted to attend school but were finding it difficult because there was no transport facility. The SHO assured them that arrangements would be made to help them get to school when classes resume after the Onam holidays,” an official said.

The residents bid farewell to the police team with smiles, promising to join them for the Onam feast at the Moozhiyar police station on Monday.
