CalMac ferry evacuated over 'bomb threat' after passenger goes overboard at Ardrossan

A ferry service in Scotland has been evacuated following a "bomb threat", with emergency services swarming to deal with the incident at Ardrossan Harbour.

CalMac said a person was reported overboard on the MV Caledonian Isles 16:40 sailing from Brodick on the Isle of Arran. The person was then rescued in the waters off the Scottish south east coast. It is understood the ferry was then evacuated over a bomb threat.

CalMac CEO Duncan Mackison said: "This is a live incident which is currently developing. CalMac staff and crew are following emergency procedures alongside the emergency services and no injuries have been reported. Customers will be kept informed of the situation as it develops."

CalMac, the UK's largest ferry operator, operates 29 routes across Scotland's west coast.
