Diddy Loses Two Months of Freedom as Federal Prison Perks Unravel
Imprisoned hip-hop mogul Sean “ Diddy ” Combs will remain in federal lockup for an additional two months, according to Bureau of Prisons records, after a news report exposed numerous prison rules he has been violating behind bars.
Combs is serving a 50-month sentence at the federal prison at Fort Dix in Southern New Jersey after he was found guilty of two Mann Act violations at his sensational New York trial last summer. A jury of 12 acquitted the near-billionaire of the more serious federal charges of racketeering and sex trafficking, rejecting prosecutors’ case that Combs Enterprises staff formed a top-down criminal enterprise or that his “freak off” parties constituted sex trafficking. In October, Combs entered Fort Dix, his preferred federal prison, as it’s in the same state as the home where his five kids were raised and where they currently live. At his sentencing, he promised he’d been humbled by the trial, and he appeared to be making good in prison, entering Fort Dix’s drug rehab program and working as a chaplain’s assistant.
“He describes the environment as warm, respectful, and rewarding,” Combs’ publicist, Juda Engelmayer, previously told CBS News .
Illusions of Combs turning over a new leaf were shattered last week, when a Dateline report put his lavish life in prison on display. A crew of incarcerated men received funds in their commissary accounts in exchange for doing basic chores like making the rapper’s bed, cleaning his toilet and shower, and giving him massages, according to the report . Some inmates also reportedly cooked him meals outside the prison’s daily menu. The Dateline reporter said she spoke with several inmate sources inside Fort Dix.
Combs also had a contraband phone and a tablet that he used to communicate outside the prison’s grounds, a violation that can add as much as a year to an inmate’s sentence in some cases. For Combs, it means two months: records show his release date has been moved to March 2, 2028, from its prior date of January 21, 2028.
When contacted Thursday, the Bureau of Prisons said it does not comment on currently incarcerated individuals, even when the question pertains to an official release date.
After the report’s release and officials learning of Combs’ antics, he was placed in solitary confinement, NBC News reported Thursday. It is the second time he has been separated from the general population; the first instance reportedly stemmed from a physical altercation with another inmate.
Meanwhile, boxing champ Mike Tyson told Andy Cohen during a phone interview on Cohen’s radio show that he sent a letter to President Donald Trump as Combs sought a pardon.
“Yeah, he wanted me to give a letter to the president,” Tyson told Cohen. “And I did what he told me to do.”
Trump ultimately did not pardon Combs, which would have spared him more than four years in prison after he served a year at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.
