Aaron Sorkin's " The Social Reckoning " sees Jeremy Strong portray Mark Zuckerberg during the 2021 Facebook whistleblower scandal.

The new film, which hits theaters on October 9, is the much-anticipated follow-up to 2010's "The Social Network." It also stars Mikey Madison as the whistleblower Frances Haugen and Jeremy Allen White as the award-winning technology reporter Jeff Horwitz.

Here's how the cast compares to the real-life people they're playing in "The Social Reckoning." Jeremy Strong plays Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook founder and Meta CEO.

Jeremy Strong plays Mark Zuckerberg in "The Social Reckoning." Sony; David Paul Morris/Bloomberg via Getty Images Jesse Eisenberg , who played Zuckerberg in "The Social Network," told Variety that he was asked to reprise the role for "The Social Reckoning," but declined.

"I just told him I'm moving in different directions in my life," Eisenberg said of Sorkin, who wrote and directed the new film.

"I don't want to be associated with that character, but all of my reasons for not wanting to do the movie have nothing to do with how wonderful the movie is, and will be, and I'm sure is already." Instead, Jeremy Strong was cast as the adult version of Facebook's founder.

As he did while playing Kendall Roy in HBO's billionaire-family drama "Succession," Strong went method for the role, according to Sorkin.

"Jeremy does a lot of his own work," Sorkin told NYT's "The Interview." "I told all the other actors in his scenes: 'Guys, he's not going to be hanging out with you at craft service.

He's not going to be yucking it up with you between takes.

He's probably not going to speak to you at all." "He is going to treat you the way he imagines Mark treats the people around him.' And that's what happened," he continued.

"You cannot argue with the results." Mikey Madison plays Frances Haugen, also known as the "Facebook whistleblower." Mikey Madison plays Frances Haugen in "The Social Reckoning."
