Trump Reshares Post Arguing He Deserved Nobel Peace Prize

Evan Vucci/Reuters Donald Trump has tried to make himself feel better by resharing a fawning post from a MAGA lawyer claiming he should have won this year’s Nobel Peace Prize.

Soon after the prestigious honor was awarded to Navanethem “Navi” Pillay , a former U.N. human rights chief and judge at the International Court of Justice, the 80-year-old president shared a Truth Social post from David Schoen, one of the lead attorneys during Trump’s second impeachment trial .

In his post, Schoen claimed that the Nobel Committee “shamed itself beyond repair and demeaned the once great Nobel Peace Prize” by awarding it to Pillay—who oversaw a U.N. report accusing Israel of committing genocide in Gaza—instead of Trump, who is currently fighting a war in Iran with no end in sight.

“She has no credibility in any normal sphere and has never done a thing to foster peace.

Just the opposite,” Schoen added.

“But what could be expected from a committee that previously gave the once coveted peace prize to Yasser Arafat? “President Trump gave us the Abraham Accords, which the world said would be impossible and is now expanding them! He brought home the hostages when all seemed hopeless! He is making best efforts to end the Russia/Ukraine war, to stop Iran, the number one sponsor of international terrorism, and he is trying to rebuild Gaza despite the terrorists’ best efforts to control it.

The list goes on and on,” Schoen added.

“These are the kinds of things the Nobel Peace Prize was intended to recognize and reward!!!” As well as representing the president, Schoen was former Trump strategist Steve Bannon’s lawyer during his contempt-of-Congress trial, in which Bannon was found guilty and sentenced to four months in prison.

Schoen was also in line to represent pedophile Jeffrey Epstein after he was charged with federal sex trafficking charges, but the disgraced financier took his own life in August 2019 before he could face trial.

Trump has made no secret of his desire to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, often citing the dubious claim that he ended eight wars since returning to the White House.

Last year’s winner, Venezuelan democracy campaigner María Corina Machado, announced that she would hand over her honor to Trump because she believed the 80-year-old “deserved” it.

The desperate move to please Trump came soon after the U.S. abducted former Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and brought him to New York to face “narcoterrorism” charges.

The Nobel Institute quickly rejected the move, confirming that the prize cannot be “revoked, shared or transferred” after it has been awarded.
